Author’s rights and related rights (often referred to as copyright in English) are recognised as key drivers of economic growth, creativity, innovation and competitiveness. In the context of rapid technological developments, ensuring respect for these rights requires a better understanding of the issues at stake, as well as greater awareness of the impact of our everyday practices when accessing content.
A European study shows that Luxembourg ranks third in terms of paying for access to legal online content. Nevertheless, 21% of respondents also report accessing illegal content.[1] These findings underline the need to continue and strengthen efforts to raise public awareness of copyright and related rights.
Recognising the importance of this issue for the Luxembourg economy, the Ministry of the Economy, in collaboration with the Institut de la Propriété Intellectuelle Luxembourg G.I.E., has developed a dedicated awareness-raising campaign to promote respect for author’s rights and related rights. This initiative has brought together numerous national stakeholders, including collective management organisations, the consortium of telecom operators and RTL.
The visuals for this campaign are presented below.
